This course is designed for students who are about to leave for college or university. They will learn basic cookery skills to help them live healthily throughout their time away and covers topics including
· cooking techniques
· kitchen safety
· how to choose fresh, healthy, inexpensive ingredients
· how to use leftovers
· how to budget and manage money
and students will leave with a Starter Bag of basic equipment needed to follow the book of recipes they will be given – as well as an enthusiasm for cooking!
Students will cook individually and in pairs and will be shown how to plan and cook meals which will not break their budget. They will come away confident in how to make nutritious, delicious and filling meals which will not take hours to prepare. They will cook their own lunches and prepare dishes to take away with them at the end of every day.
Also available after the day’s cooking: Outdoor heated swimming pool and croquet for relaxation.
This course can be residential by arrangement.
